PhD Admission in IIM (Indian Institute of Management)
IIMs are considered India’s premier national institutes, providing quality management education and research. IIMs primarily offer postgraduate, doctoral, and executive education programmes. The flagship programme of IIMs is the two-year post-graduate programme. These two-year programmes are residential in nature.
The Fellow Programme in Management ( FPM ) is a fulltime doctoral level programme in management and is equivalent to a Ph.D. programme. The Executive Post Graduate programmes are targeted at working professionals.
The Doctoral Programme of IIMB is committed to train individuals who will excel in their area of research through publication of high-quality work of international standard.
Upon successful completion of the academic requirements, the programme leads to the grant of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Eligibility for PhD Admission in IIM
One of the following qualifications is required as basic eligibility:
- Master’s or Post Graduate Diploma (2 yrs) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with B Com/Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent.
- B Tech/4 year Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent
Qualifying Examination
For PhD admission in IIM, you should have a valid test score of one of GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, JRF (NET), IIM Test, depending on the area of specialisation.
Selection
Candidates will be short listed on the recommendation of respective areas based on their Profile and Qualifying Scores. Such candidates will be invited for a Personal Interview (and written tests for certain areas) at IIM.
Candidates will be admitted to the programme based on a combination of multiple parameters, as also specified by the respective areas. Parameters may include applicant’s performance in GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, JRF (NET) score, or IIM Test (as applicable), past academic performance, work experience, area specific test and/or interview performance etc.
Duration
The prescribed period for the completion of the PhD program is five years under full-time enrollment.
Fellowship
There is also a fellowship for the enrolled PhD Scholars. The fellowship is disbursed on monthly basis. Kindly check the fellowship amount of the websites of IIMs.
If you are already JRF qualified then you will get the fellowship on DBT basis from UGC or Sponsered Institutions.
